Activities with kids in Mons

Finding a day out the whole family agrees on can feel like an obstacle course: sighing teenagers, little ones who need carrying after ten minutes, and the ever-unpredictable Belgian weather. Here’s what really works with kids in Mons, and what’s best adapted.

What’s best adapted

Some outings are wonderful… for the parents. With children, a few tweaks make all the difference.

Long visits

The Belfry and the Town Hall are stunning, but a two-hour guided tour is long when you’re 8. Go for a short format with a riddle or treasure hunt.

Long walks

“Just a little 7 km walk” often ends with the youngest on someone’s shoulders. Pick a short loop with a real goal: the top of a slag heap, a picnic.

Passive outings

Children remember the moments when they take part. Sitting and watching leaves far less of a mark than playing, moving and sharing.

What really works

The outings everyone agrees on are about action, immersion and sharing. Here are ours, and from what age.

The Arcade Zone: instant fun

Kids hop from one machine to the next in a flash: baskets on the Basketball machine, air hockey duels, reflexes on Catch the Light. The youngest have their own games: Mini Rider, Mini Helicopter and Mini Air Hockey.

BattleKart: a visual knockout

As soon as the floor comes alive under the wheels, the wow effect is guaranteed. It’s not just karting, it’s a life-size video game. Drivers must be at least 1.45 m tall: perfect for older children, teens and parents.

Swarms VR: be a hero (from age 12)

For tweens and teens (and geeky parents), it’s the ultimate experience: gearing up, seeing your family beside you and teaming up to push back the swarm on the Corigis-B12 base. Under-16s must be accompanied by an adult.

The recipe for a great day

The golden rule: mix action and sharing. Choose places where kids take part, and share moments where you laugh with them.
